Robot production

Milton Gurley, president of the International Federation of Robotics, said: "Today, the inventory of industrial robots operating in factories around the world is at an all-time high." "Driven by the success story of smart manufacturing and automation, this has grown by around 85 percent globally in five years (2014-2019). Recent sales have declined by 12 percent , reflecting the tough times experienced by our two main customer industries, automotive and electrical/electronics."

"Beyond that, the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic on the global economy cannot yet be fully assessed," said Milton Guerry."

The remaining months of 2020 will depend on adapting to the "new normal". Robot suppliers will adapt to new applications and the need to develop solutions. It is unlikely that there will be any major stimulus from large-scale orders this year. China may be an exception, as the coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and the country began to recover in the second quarter. Other economies are reporting that they are currently at a turning point. However, it will take several months for this to translate into demand for automation projects and robots. it will recover in 2021, but may not reach pre-crisis levels until 2022 or 2023."
